The primary goal of Eats on Feets is to connect families with babies in need of breastmilk with donors who have milk to share. This is a mighty task for an entirely volunteer-run network and your support is vital to our success!
A secondary goal is to normalize community-based milksharing as a safe infant feeding option when breastmilk of one's own lactating parent is not available. The World Health Organization defines exclusive breastfeeding to include expressed milk and milk from another (i.e. by wet-nursing). In support of exclusive breastfeeding and in circumstances where breastfeeding from a wet-nurse is not feasible, informed milksharing can be a viable option for families. Milksharing can be interpreted as an extension of wet-nursing and as a safe alternative for infant feeding and successful exclusive breastfeeding.
There are many ways anyone can be involved in normalizing community-based breastmilk sharing, whether it be on social media or directly in your local community. We hope that our downloadable and printable resources will be useful for you to use. Please click on each section for an expanded view of the available downloads.
